VCU is a beautiful urban atmosphere that is vastly different than my hometown. When observing campus, I found some differentiating aspects. Bricks are seen in a multitude of areas from buildings, homes, to the sidewalk which gives the area a more urban feel. I’m drawn to the older homes and their architecture as well as the famous altria theater. It’s a beautiful building that catches my eye every time I walk past. I’ve also noticed the freedom of self-expression here at VCU, you can dress however you’d like and nobody really cares. I love passing artistic elements such as the famous wall murals throughout the campus which inspire creativity. I do sometimes miss nature surrounding me, or the view of the mountains I would have back at my hometown, but Virginia Commonwealth University feels like home to me.
